The Life of Mrs. Grace B. Hemerly

Grace B. (Hertzog) Hemerly, 95, a resident of Legacy Place Cottages, Allentown, and formerly of Kutztown, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.  She was the widow of Paul E. Hemerly, who died April 30, 1995.

Born in Reading and raised in Dryville, Grace was a daughter of the late Jacob W. and Beulah K (Beitler) Hertzog.  She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Kutztown.  Grace was a devoted wife and mother to her family.  She spent many hours with her grandchildren playing board games, as well as occasionally rolling down the hill in the backyard with them in her younger days.  She enjoyed the ordinary tasks as a homemaker and made the best apple tart, according to her daughters.  She was an avid Bible reader and was quick to share a scripture with anyone who would listen. 

Grace is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl R. (Hemerly),wife of Kenneth W. Schaus, New Smithville, and Gail P. (Hemerly), wife of Barry Hirsch, Fleetwood; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brothers, Albert Hertzog and Larry, husband to Sue (Boyer) Hertzog, and by her nieces and nephews and their children.

Services for Grace will be held privately.
