The Life of SHARRIE LOUISE BLACKBURN

Sharrie Louise Blackburn, age 78, of Des Moines, died Monday, June 29, 2020 at her home. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2020 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Sharrie was born October 17, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lester and Louise Conn. She graduated from Drake University in 1964 with a BA. On December 30, 1966 she married Gerald Blackburn. She taught at Valley High School in West Des Moines for a short time. She had two children, Michael and Kari, and was active in the PTA. She worked at Girl Scouts of America as a registrar.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gerald; daughter, Kari McWhorter (Scott); grandchildren, Dacotah, Cheyan, Donnie, Jarrett, Payton, and Cole; sister, Debra Kramer (Steve); sister-in-law, Dorothy Horton; and brother-in-law, Robert Blackburn (Peggy).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Louise Conn; and her son, Michael.
