The Life of EVELYN JUNE POTTS

Evelyn June Potts, 83, Urbandale, Iowa died Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at the Urbandale Health Care Center surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born September 1, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lee Warren & Dortha (Netherow) Ives. She was raised in Des Moines graduating from East High. She was a homemaker and caretaker to her family assuring their success.

Evelyn was her grandchildren’s greatest cheerleader, attending and rooting for the kids in their various activities. She was competitive in her own right, whether it be bingo, cards, board games, or puzzles. Reading was her quiet time.

Evelyn was a vocal Iowa Hawkeye’s FAN. Don’t bother her when the Hawks were playing a football or basketball game on television. Your emergency could wait.

Survivors include sons, Steven (Linda) Potts, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Potts, and Paul (Jacquie) Potts: grandchildren, Tyler Coughlon, Jessica Potts, Brittany (Adi Shetty) Potts, Marisa Potts, Brooklyn Potts, and Haylie Potts; great granddaughters, Peyton Phelan, and Alaina Shetty; and niece Trish Allison.

She was preceded in death by husband, Kenneth John Potts on April 4, 2020; her parents, Lee & Dortha: siblings, Dale, Mary, Tom, Paul, Patricia, and Richard.

The family will greet friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Iles Grandview Park Chapel, 3211 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50317. A funeral service will begin at 6:00 pm, Wednesday evening following visitation in the funeral home chapel.

Evelyn’s family will meet at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2:00 pm, Friday, February 24, 2023 for burial of her cremains.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to The University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.
