The Life of VERNON D. BURKE JR.

Vernon David Burke, Jr. was born on June 5, 1938 to the late Vernon
and Grace Burke. The Burke family lived on Bedford Avenue in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and soon after moved to Summers Drive.

Vernon attended St. Richard School through 8th grade, and graduated
from Fifth Avenue High School. At the age of 15, Vernon enlisted into
the United States Army and shortly thereafter was sent to Vietnam to
fight in the war.

Vernon was united in holy matrimony to Arlene Snipe. To this union,
three children were born: Vernon III, Donna and Darrin. For years,
Vernon worked as a barber where he brought smiles to everyone.

Vernon leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Donna Burke; five
grandchildren, Michael and Lechelle Benken, Dorian Burke, Elijah
Burke, and Darren Burke Jr.; five great grandchildren; Kyle Benken,
Julia Benken, Juju Benken, Eriona Burke, and Serenity Burke; a sister,
Yvonne Hughes; seven nephews, Ralph Hughes Jr., Jerry Hughes, Richard
Hughes, David Hughes, Solomon Hughes, Ronald Burke, and Ricky Burke;
four nieces, Renee Hughes, Tanis Lenard, Rhonda Burke and Ronell
Burke; and a host of relatives and friends.

Vernon was preceded in death by his two sons; Vernon Burke III and
Darrin Burke; a sister, Donna Burke; a brother, Ronald Burke Sr.; a
sister-in-law, Ella Burke, a brother-in-law; Ralph Hughes Sr.; and
nephew, Ramon Hughes.
