Irene Ellis

1941 - 2020

Irene Ellis was born on October 20, 1941 to James Mitchell (deceased) and Madeline Moses (deceased) at McGhee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She left her earthly home for her heavenly home on June 3, 2020 and reunited with her mother (Madeline), father (James) and two brothers (Melvin Patrick Ellis and Louis Jamison Ellis). She leaves behind her two sisters, Elnora Wright (née Ellis) and Gertrude Trudy Ellis, and extended family and friends.

Some of Irene’s greatest accomplishments included graduating from Herron Hill Junior High School and Schenley High School. Throughout her life, she would share her cherished memory of seeing the excitement on her dear mother’s face as she graduated from Herron Hill. Irene Ellis confessed Jesus as her Lord and Savior and invited him into her heart. Her home church was Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Pittsburgh. Our beloved Irene lived a long and full life and was greatly loved. She was known for her generosity to both family and friends. We miss her, but are comforted in knowing that she is with God, resting peacefully in His arms.
