Always a Smile and a Share

Elizabeth, we will miss your enthusiasm and smile. As a work colleague whenever a customer challenge was assigned to you, I could relax, knowing they were well taken care of.

As a friend your willingness to share, from the best apples (Northern Spy) to your feline Lily who could have been my Mina's sister, to your wonderful recipe for sugar cookies, made everyone's day brighter.

To Elizabeth's family, I am so sorry for your loss. She will be greatly missed.

A Brilliant Mind

I was fortunate to have worked with Elizabeth for 15 years. During that time as colleagues, I was witness to Elizabeth's brilliant mind and how quickly she could resolve  the most complex problems. We ate lunch together almost every day, along wit others, and, during those times Elizabeth spoke with endearing love for her mother, Loretta, her brother Rich and his wife Amy, and, her beloved feline buddies.  Elizabeth will be profoundly missed by her family, friends and colleagues.

EAW

When I started at Pentamation, we'd put little notes in the code header with our username and then mark our changes where they happened, like this:

05/24/2020  EAW  Wrote a little bit to fix a bug

And then one day I was making a change and saw something like this near where I had to make my change:

05/24/1997  EAW  Wrote a little bit to fix a bug

Except I didn't work there in '97, I started in February 1998.

Which was ridiculously funny, because I sat next to or across from or otherwise relatively nearby Elizabeth -- not for long at the time this happened, but eventually for a whole decade; on other teams and the same team.

I started initialling code changes as EvAW, and still do, so we could tell our changes apart.

To this day, and I'm sure well beyond, anywhere I have to initial something if I don't add the v I'll think about adding it, and I'll remember why I do that even if I somehow accidentally successfully manage to stick with a more traditional EAW.

You will be missed, Elizabeth.

Grateful for the Friendship

As a Public School Administrator,  I had the pleasure of working with Liz for years.  We eventually became friends.   She was such a sweet and bright lady.  We would text every  now and then.  I will miss her greatly.

Remarkable Coworker

I was fortuante to work with Eliazbeth at what became PowerSchool. She was a wonderful, caring individual. There isn't a word to describe her unlimited knowledge of our eSchoolPLUS product. Her mind was like a steel trap, remembering the smallest details about how the software worked. When I got frustrated, she would help me in her calm, reassuring manner. I was always eternally grateful for her help. She was the "go-to" when something did not make sense. She cared deeply about her Mother and brother. One conversation I was trying to explain to practical Elizabeth why us impractical Rich and I drove Camaros and Mustangs. She was just too far to the practical side of the continuum. We laughed about it. That's the way she was. Loretta, Rich, I am so sorry for your loss. There is no doubt Elizabeth is in heaven watching over us: that was her instinct. God Bless you in this dark time. Think about Elizabeth and all the fun you had together. Her cookies at Christmas.

Wonderful Friend

Loretta & Rich, I am so sorry for your loss.  You meant the world to Elizabeth as I'm sure she meant the world to you also.  I have worked with Elizabeth for over 20 years and no matter what teams we were on, I could always count on her to help with anything,   I will miss hearing Elizabeth's stories, she always had stories of past travels and things at home.  It will be hard to imagine life in the office without her when we return.  I will share one picture below of our team many years ago.   She will be missed by all who knew her.

Working with Elizabeth

Elizabeth and I were at the company many years although not working directly together. If she asked me a question about a program, I was pretty sure that she had already figured out the answer, but was just verifying that we did indeed have something wrong. She was a great resource for a lot of people!

Although I didn't sit in her area, she always made sure to invite me over for the Christmas cookies! And they were delicious.

My deepest condolences to her family.

Amazing Friend and Co-worker

Elizabeth always went out of her way to help in any way she could with kindness and patience. She also made special occasions more special by bringing her unbeatable homemade treats to the office. When she found out that my daughter was gluten free, she brought a special bag of cookies just for her. She always told the most loving stories about her family. Elizabeth will be deeply missed

. My deepest condolences to Elizabeth's family and friends.

Distinguisted Co-Worker

My heart felt sympathies go out to the family, freinds and loved ones. Elizabeth was a very knowledgable and helpful coworker and will be missed by all whom had the pleasure of working with her. I've only had the pleasure of working with her for a short time, but her presents has left an imprint on me and have made me better at my job for the few experiences i did have with her.  I know this my be of little confort for those who knew her best, but I just thought you would like to know that she made her mark on even the smalest encounters in her life.  God Bless.

Good Friend and Co-worker

My deepest condolences Loretta and Rich. She always had such lovely stories about you. The visit to Ireland, Rich’s wedding, her love for her ancestry and so many more…

We were friends and then she became my boss and then we drifted apart as we moved to different teams. I have many memories of us working together. She was relentless in getting things done. I remember the late nights she would put in to get TX done. She would be at work till late at night and back next morning to do more. And yet she was always available to help when I needed it. I respected her knowledge and understanding of our software. She was brilliant and I knew when she worked on something there was very little anyone else could contribute. We still find references to her #babboo in code.  I will always think of her as a storyteller. I enjoyed hearing about her Irish background, she was a good friend during my pregnancy and was there for my daughters baptism and came home for her first birthday too I think. She was a good friend to me when I needed it most. We talked about being catholic. I have memories of Elizabeth, Jen and I eating desserts together, the picture posted is probably a hat day we decided to do (we had color days and hat days and she always joined us in our goofiness) her awesome Christmas cookies (they are legend, I still have her recipe with me but I could never get them to taste as well as hers did) lots of good times. She was a loving and kind soul, and I will miss her very much.

Fond Childhood Memories

Sending love and prayers to the family, especially Aunt Loretta.  I have fond memories of the fun that my sister Sue and I would have playing with Bethy (as she was known at the time) when her family would visit mine in Elmira.  We were a couple of cousins thrown together, and we always managed to have a good time and share some laughs.  Bethy was kind and patient with me.  It was heartwarming to her and her mother teasing each other and clearly loving each other through the years.

Amazing co-worker and friend

I had the pleasure of working with Elizabeth for 22 years at what is now known as PowerSchool. When we both first started, we did not work directly together, but since she joined the support team, we have been together ever since.
She was incredibly briliant and I was lucky to learn from her all these years.
She always had a smile and of course, her treats were legendary in the office  Even if I was not in the office, she made sure I got some as she always left some for me on my desk to make sure I did not miss out!
I will miss her stories about her past, her college and all the trips.
I will miss her stories about her cats, Lily and Dave.  (We both shared a love for cats!)
I will miss her stories about her remodeling and gardening.
I will miss her stories about the cases she worked on.
I will miss her stories about her brother and her mom. Stuff like, this is what Mom and I made this weekend.. Or mom and I spread mulch this weekend. Or who has the best strawberries in town.
My life and our team is forever changed.
Miss you Elizabeth

A Servant's Heart

For the last 16 years, I've known Elizabeth in her product support roles for eSchoolPLUS.  She poured her heart and soul into her work and solved many problems for us over the years.  We had wonderful chats during that time about her world in Pennsylvania and my world in Texas.  When we had an opportunity to meet in person, she recognized me by voice from all of our phone conversations.  She was so knowledgeable, and I always knew than when she got one of my support cases, it would be well researched and well taken care of.  I was so saddened to hear of her passing, and it doesn't seem possible that I won't be talking to her again.  My condolences to her family and PowerSchool friends, who already miss her so much.  In keeping with our joint Irish heritage, I offer this:

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,

may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Supreme helper

Elizabeth, you will be missed by every colleague, customer, family member, and friend. My 13-yr career at SunGard/PowerSchool was bookended with the privilege of working with you: from my early years with the regulatory team to my final years in support. No one digs deeper into the data than you. No one fights a problem harder than you. Hearing "I have a problem and need your help" was music to your ears. I loved seeing the pleasure in your face when you solved a problem for a customer or helped a colleague. This is only part of the reason you'll be missed.

Jen posted a pic which reminded me of the winter of 2005/2006 when I was going thru chemo and wore hats to cover my bald head. It was your idea that the team wear hats in solidarity. I will always love you for this.

You left us way too early. You will be sorely missed. Thank you for being the person you were.
