The Life of John D Theodore

John D. Theodore, 69 of Drexel Hill passed away March 31, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. John was the only child of Gus and Dorothy Theodore of Drexel Hill.

He attended Upper Darby High School and graduated in 1968, then proceeded to Temple University acquiring two Psychology degrees. Upon graduation, Mr. Theodore was employed by the Green Tree School where he worked as a school counselor for disadvantaged children.

After a year and a half, he was bit by the music bug. John led a 10 year campaign of writing, producing, and performing original music. His unique and infectious vocal style acquired his bands many fans. Later on, Mr. Theodore found a rewarding career as a distributor of pharmaceutical samples for close to 35 years. Through his love and passion for music, John continued to play out at the request of his admirable musician friends. Later in life, John took up quite a passion for skiing, became President of the Buckridge Ski Club in Delaware County and enjoyed multiple trips with the club out West and to Vermont. He became a born again Christian thanks to his dear friend Tom Houpt who helped him along the way. 

John is survived by his wife, Lesley M. (Young)Theodore, who he met over 30 years ago while John was lead singer in one of his bands. He also has a son, John Valentik, whom he helped raise since he was a toddler. With heavy hearts Lesley and Johnny will continue on in John's memory and visit all of those places they dreamt, love on friends, family, and animals, and continue to rock and roll!
