The Life of John Wesley McCoy
John Wesley McCoy, 55, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. Services will be 2:00 p.m., February 28, 2020, at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at Olathe Memorial Cemetery, 738 North Chestnut Street, Olathe, Kansas. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Hospice Partners 10500 Barkley Street Suite #228 Overland Park, Kansas 66212.John was born on August 26, 1964 in Emporia, Kansas to Clayton and Carlene (Diebolt) McCoy. He graduated from Emporia High School. He was employed in the food industry for many years. He enjoyed working on cars, spending time at the lake, camping, and attending his daughters’ softball and volleyball games. Nothing gave him more pleasure in life than the times he spent with his step-daughter Lewana, daughters Taryn and Morgan, and his granddaughter Zaylah.
John is preceded in death by his father, Clayton Wesley McCoy and daughter, Morgan Emily McCoy.
He is survived by his mother, Carlene K. McCoy; daughter, Taryn McCoy, Liberty Missouri; step-daughter Lewana Webb, Crossville, Tennessee; sisters, Sherry A. McCoy (Robert Swartz) Los Angeles, California, Donna McCoy-Harms (Royce) Overland Park, Kansas, Susan D. Payne (Scott) Lenexa, Kansas, Kerry L. Sull, Emporia, Kansas; and brothers, Randy S. McCoy (Lynne) Fort Worth, Texas and Dan J. McCoy, Emporia, Kansas. John is also survived by nieces, nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews. He will be sadly missed.
