The Life of ROSALIE R. RHODES
Rosalie R. (Boston) Rhodes, on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 passed peacefully with her loving family at her side.
On June 22, 1932, the late Richard Boston and Alice Maxwell Boston, gave birth to Rosalie Rebecca in Charleston, South Carolina. At an early age, Rosalie joined her Parents and moved to Pennsylvania, where she was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School System. During her working career, Rosalie worked tirelessly at several jobs, always moving towards making the best possible life for her children. Rosalie was a talented beautician, who loved gardening and cooking. On December 13, 1972, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Joseph Rhodes, Sr. During this time, she ventured into real estate and travel. In addition to working outside the home, she was devoted to her Parents and siblings, all of whom she cared for in their later years; as well as for many others who didn’t have anyone else.
Once Rosalie accepted Christ into her life, He magnified her gift of compassion and she was a source of help to many lonely and destitute souls. Rosalie would say, God always has a ram in the bush!” For many, she was that ram! Roweee was known for her outspoken nature; however, she was always truthful with her wisdom and didnt have a problem sharing whatever was on her mind. She was a fierce driver, which is how she got the nickname, "Mustang Sally." She drove anything that had four wheels! What Rosie cherished most in life was her five daughters, whom she molded and shaped into powerful, successful women. Rosalie stressed the importance of a good work ethic and education. She felt secure in leaving them to continue the work that she started. Maybe you didn't know, but Mommy had a PhDF Put Her Daughers First.”
Mommy was healthy throughout her life until November of 2018, when she suffered her first stoke. God was merciful and granted Rosalie more time; and she lived 15 months beyond the projected hours of life. On Tuesday, the fourth day of February, Rosalie stepped peacefully from time into eternity, surrounded by her legacy of daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of Gods faithful servants. To welcome her into Paradise, she was greeted by her parents, husband, brothers, Alexander Robinson, Francis Robinson, Richard Boston, Jr.; and sisters, Earthalee
Chisholm and Celestine Tolbert. Also waiting to greet her were her two cousin/sisters, Hester Wallace and Annie Bryant, who with Rosalie, were affectionately called "The Golden Girls.”
Rosalie leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy her five daughters: Alice Childs, Antoinette Boston, Patricia (Tom) Patrick, Lendah Boston (all of Pittsburgh, PA) and Carmen Boston-Smith (New York); three adopted sons: Robert Jacobs, Donald Wilds (Pittsburgh) and Isa Kure (Abuja, Nigeria); 11 grandchildren: James, Tynesha (John), Morris, Tonya, Dawn, Ricky, Wendell, Duane and Wennell; 13 great grands; 19 great-great grands and 13 great-great-great grands; nieces, nephews; and 2 sisters-inlaw, Lillie Robinson-Darby and Audrey Boston; as well as a host of friends, who will miss her dearly. We love you, Rosie!
Visitation on Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Pentecostal Temple COGIC 6300 East Liberty Blvd Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
Celebration of Rosalie's Life-Going Home Services will be officiated by Bishop Loran E. Mann on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Pentecostal Temple COGIC 6300 East Liberty Blvd Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
