The Life of Mrs. Alice K. Morrissey

Alice Krample Morrissey, age 94, of Fairfield, beloved wife of James M. Morrissey, peacefully entered into the Lord’s embrace and into the journey of eternal life on Tuesday, December 17, 2019.
One of seven siblings of the late Edward Joseph and Anna (Rapp) Krample, she was born in July 1925 in Scranton, PA, where she grew up and attended public school. Alice moved to Bridgeport as a young woman. During World War II, she was an Air Raid Warden (airplane spotter), a Red Cross worker, and a civil defense service person working for General Electric and then Remington Arms. Alice married James “Jim” Morrissey of Georgetown, CT on Flag Day, 1947. They resided in Westport and moved to Fairfield in 1959 where she has resided since. Along with being a full-time wife and mother, she served as a volunteer at the Kennedy Center working with disabled children in the early 1960s.

Alice was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Fairfield. She attended Bible study and was a woman of tremendous faith and strength. She was always seen wearing her gold “Try God” necklace and would speak about faith to anyone at any time.

After the death of her loving husband Jim in 1985, Alice continued to live independently in their home where she loved to plant flowers and garden. She enjoyed going to the theater, bowling, seeing movies, playing pinochle, feeding and watching birds at her feeders. She relished almost every edible on the planet. Throughout the years, Alice loved her pets; dogs and cats. She will live in many of our hearts as the most generous person we have ever known. Her profound generosity manifested itself in many ways, including her love for her family and friends. She was fond of telling anyone that she would never be able to out-give the abundance and blessings she received throughout her life from her Christian beliefs. Her persistent and strong faith sustained her and her family throughout her life on earth.

Alice collected and was given everything and anything to do with giraffes, Holstein cows, elephants, and the trio of monkeys miming “See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil.”

A devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother, Alice was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Kristin and her husband George Jacobi, of Mansfield, CT and by her daughter-in-law, Nancy Morrissey, of Bridgeport, CT; and by her grandchildren, Alianna Jacobi, of East Hartford, CT, Jacqueline Hathaway and her husband Brian and their children, Timothy, Jennifer and Eric, of Rock Hill, SC; Kathleen Morrissey, of Milford; Shawn Morrissey and his daughter, Katelyn Ann, of West Palm Beach, FL, and her sister, Lois D’Oria, of Fort Lauderdale, FL. She will be especially missed by numerous lifelong, loyal personal friends and Church family.

Those also left to treasure her memory include many loving and caring neighbors, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was predeceased by her son, Paul; her granddaughter, Jill; and her brothers, Fred Leibold, Edward and Robert Krample, and her sisters, Ruth Henn and Freida Buck.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, with the Pastor Henry Brehm, First Baptist Church of Fairfield, officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call Friday, from 6-8 p.m.
