The Life of BERNICE VELMA SNYDER

Bernice Snyder, 98, passed away November 24, 2019 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston.

Bernice was born March 23, 1921 in Madrid to Archibald and Tisha (Bennett) Atkinson. She enjoyed embroidery, gardening and yardwork. Bernice was a lifelong member of Fort Des Moines Open Bible church. She loved everyone unconditionally especially her family. Bernice was known as the world’s best pie maker.

She is survived by her children, Randy (Sue) Snyder, Denice (Terry) Orr, Cheryl (Tany) Adams, and Doug (Laura) Snyder; sisters, Lois Houghton and Barbara (Ed) Roberts; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; daughter, Donna Snyder; grandson, Jeffrey Snyder; great grandson, Conner Miller; three brothers; and three sisters.

The family will greet friends at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 29, 2019 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Bernice will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens.
