The Life of Richard F. H. Gardam

Richard F. H. Gardam, 68, of Kutztown, formerly of Kempton, died Thursday, October 24, 2019, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Louise (Junge) Gardam. They were married December 22, 1973. Born in New York City, NY, Richard was the son of the late Gilbert F. and Eleanor C. (Enberg) Gardam. Richard was raised in Huntington Park, CA. He was a member of The Kempton New Church, where he sang with the choir. Richard was employed as a security guard by Graham Security, Reading, until his retirement in 2015. Prior, Richard worked in the same capacity for other agencies. Richard's passions included reading, theology, chess, drawing, piano, singing, classical music, creative camping, comedy, and especially spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of 46 years, Louise, Richard is survived by his children: Matthew B. Gardam, Birch Bay, WA; Sarah C. Gardam, Blaine, WA; Rachel M. Gardam, wife of Christopher M. Lewis, Brooklyn, NY; Elizabeth D. Gardam, Bellingham, WA; and Daniel W. Gardam, Kutztown. Other survivors include a grandson, Rowan J. Schwitter.

A family directed memorial service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. at the Kempton New Church, 583 Hawk Mountain Road, Kempton, PA, 19529, with Reverend Andrew Heilman, officiating. Inurnment in the Church Cemetery, next to his son and mother, will be private at the convenience of the family.
