The Life of Elaine T. Conrad

CONRAD , ELAINE AGE 99 PASSED AWAY ON OCTOBER 22, 2019 AT LODGE LANE ASSISTED LIVING IN WILMINGTON , DELAWARE.

She had been a resident of Lansdowne for over 55 years. She was born on March 22, 1920 in Russell, PA. Warren County, the daughter of Ray and Hazel Bennett Thompson. She was a 1938 graduate of Russell High School, and attended and graduated from Hoff Business College in Warren, PA. with a degree in Private Secretarial . She also studied piano at the Warren Conservatory of Music.

She was employed locally as a secretary and in 1940, took the Civil Services exam and worked in the Solicitors office at the Post Office Department in Washington DC. Elaine often remarked that she walked past Post Master General James Farley's office every day on her way to work. She was a member of the Lansdowne United Methodist Church for 55 years, a Red Cross volunteer at Delaware County Memorial Hospital and President of the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra Auxillary for many years.

She was the devoted wife of the late Thomas Conrad who died November 8, 2010, they were married March 13, 1943. She is survived by her Son Thomas D. Conrad, JR.(Patricia) of DE and her daughter Susan B. Manari (Dominic ) of NJ and her granddaughter Lauren Conrad (Tom) of Swarthmore and her sister Barbara Anderson and her nieces.
