Joan {Morrison) Weiss Echternach passed from this life October 4, 2019 at the Anthony Community Care Center, into the care of her Heavenly Father. She was born May 19, 1937 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to parents Edgar Marshall and Bertha Ellen {Botts) Morrison.
Joan had lived in Anthony since 2003, moving from Olathe, Kansas. Joan was united in holy matrimony with Major Charles Weiss in Reverend Babb's residence on Park Street in Olathe, Kansas, on November 28, 1953. She then was united in holy matrimony with Duane Echternach at the First Christian Church, Olathe, Kansas, on September 7, 1985. While her children were growing up, Joan volunteered for the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the local P.T.A .. She was a more than 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Anchor Chapter# 3 of Olathe, Kansas, Desoto Chapter# 78, Desoto, Kansas and the Anthony Chapter# 187, Anthony, Kansas, she was a Bethel Guardian of Job's Daughters Bethel Chapter# 36 of Olathe, Kansas, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Rebekah, Beauceant and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Olathe, Kansas for over 30 years. Later on in life, she held management positions in retail and home healthcare. Joan enjoyed
playing pitch with her friends and loved all of life but more especially her children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and friends alike.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Marshall and Bertha Ellen {Botts) Morrison; her first husband, Major Charles Weiss; her second husband Duane L. Echternach; her daughter, Penny Candice {Weiss) Welch; and her grandson, Benjamin Charles Welch. Joan is survived by her son, Major Charles Weiss Jr. of Anthony, Kansas; her daughter, Sally Jean Osiier of Kansas City, Missouri; her sister, Billie and husband Robert Fidler of Green Valley, Arizona; her sisterin-
law, Sally Simon of Lakeland, Florida; her nine grandchildren; her 20 great grandchildren; her 5 great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends and family.
Graveside memorial services and inurnment will take place at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery in Olathe, Kansas on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary both conducting beautiful rites. Special selections will be played by her grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anthony Chapter# 187 Order of the Eastern Star in care of Eldringhoff Funeral Home, 115 S. Bluff Avenue, Anthony, Kansas, 620-914-2222.
