The Life of Joseph W Huver

Joseph W. Huver of Media, passed away November 11, 2018  at the age of 84. Survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Kathryn (nee Comly). Devoted father of Catharine Ricci, Joseph Jr. (Joann), Mimi Delaney (Thomas), Daniel (Kimberly), John, and Annemarie McAnally (Charles). Loving Grandfather to fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Survived also by his brother, Richard.

 

     A 1956 graduate of St. Joseph’s University where he played basketball and ran track, Joe joined the Navy and was stationed in Pensacola, FL where he became a pilot.  Following his service in the Navy, he began a career in the insurance and financial services industry helping individuals manage the risk of catastrophic injury and financial loss. He earned his Masters in Financial Services from The American College as well as his CLU and ChFC designations.

 

     As founder of Huver & Associates, Inc. (1976) and Medical Fund Advisors, Inc. (1982), Joe continued his mission to assist victims of personal injury by structuring settlements and administering medical trusts.  In 1992 he authored a book called "Structured Settlements: An Alternative Approach to the Settling of Claims published by the National Underwriter which was widely used throughout the industry. Both companies continue his mission to this day.  

 

     A man devoted to his faith and giving to others, Joe was kind and compassionate, always finding time to help friends and family in need.  He was a lifelong philanthropist donating his time and resources to causes very dear to him, including St. Joseph's University, The American College, Philabundance, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Parkinson's Foundation.   

 

     Above all else, Joe cherished his family and wife of 62 years, Kay.  He enjoyed spending time with his six children and fourteen grandchildren on various family trips around the world and spending time at his summer home on Long Beach Island, NJ.  He was an avid body surfer, gardener, florist, animal lover and bird watcher.

 

     Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Monday, November 19 from 9:00am to 10:15am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Dorothy’s Church 4910 Township Line, Drexel Hill. Internment private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
