The Life of Ruth L Biela

Ruth L. (nee Rabeneck) Biela, 95, of Springfield passed peacefully on March 21, 2019 at the Sterling Health Care Center in Media, PA.

She was the wife of the late Walter Biela who preceded her in death in 2001. Born on May 8, 1923 in Stuttgart, Arkansas, Ruth was the daughter of the late Eldor & Lucille Rabeneck. Ruth graduated from Stuttgart High School in 1941.

In 1945 she met Walter at a military air base in Stuttgart where he was stationed upon return to the U.S. after serving in the Army in North Africa and Sicily during WWII. In 1946 Ruth moved to Pennsylvania to marry Walter. Together they shared 55 years of marriage.

Ruth enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, reading, solving crossword puzzles and making delicious Sunday dinners for her family. She loved to make homemade apple pies from the apples that Walter grew in their back yard. In 1950 Ruth became a charter member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Secane with which she was very active ever since.

A devoted mother, Ruth is survived by her three children, Ruth Anne, Dorothy and Robert (Susan) Biela and two step granddaughters, Danielle and Nicole Celotto. She is also survived by her sister Wanda Phelps and her brother Ralph Rabeneck and preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Rabeneck and Donald Rabeneck. Ruth had an abundance of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, PA.
