The Life of Gretchen Neill

Gretchen (nee Federoff) Neill, 66, of Smyrna, DE, former longtime Swarthmore resident, died December 18, 2018 at Heartland Hospice. 

A graduate of Ridley High School, class of '69, Gretchen attended East Stroudsburg University. For most of her career, she worked in health care notably at Springfield Hospital.

She was an enthusiastic supporter of her sons soccer, baseball, basketball and lacrosse teams. Gretchen was a longtime Girl Scout who enjoyed canoeing, kayaking, camping and travel. Weekends at Camp Hidden Falls is where she formed great friendships. She was on the coaching staff of the Mean Green Canoe Team of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pa.

Gretchen enjoyed Scherenschnitte (a form of paper cutting), crocheting, was known as a cat lover and tending to her plants.

Survivors: include her sons, A. Kevin Neill and Phillip Neill, husband Alex, sister, Karen Bivans (David), brother, John Federoff (Judy), grandchildren, Ava and Blake; dear friends and caregivers, Trish Eskilson and Lisa Cloud.

At her request services will be private.
