Gladys E. Gettz

Gladys Gettz -on Dec. 19, 2018, age 106 of Havertown, Born in Manoa and a life long resident there, she graduated in the early 1930's from Haverford High School and from the Univ. of Pennsylvania with a degree in Physical Therapy. Gladys began her Physical Therapy career at Lankenau Hospital around 1940, when the hospital was located in Philadelphia, PA at Girard and Corinthian Avenues in the northern section of the city. The hospital moved to it’s present location of Wynnewood, PA In 1953 and Gladys continued her work there, later becoming head of the PT department.

She worked as a therapist during the polio epidemic. The Pew family was instrumental in financially supporting the hospital and she treated Miss Pew in a special suite of the hospital during her career at Lankenau.

She was a long time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Havertown, where she was active with the Bell Choir, youth groups and served as a substitute secretary when needed. , She is survived by a niece Peggy DiSciasio of Havertown and a second cousin Robert Bergen of California.

Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service on Friday, Jan 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1141 West Chester Pike, Havertown PA
