The Life of James J. O'Connell Jr.

James J. O’Connell, III, age 86, of Seymour, entered into rest on Friday Dec. 14, 2018 in the Curtis Home, Meriden. He was born in Derby on Feb. 9, 1932 son of the late James J. and Celia (Domosky) O’Connell Jr. and had been an Ansonia resident. Jim was a Postman for many years in the Ansonia Post Office until his retirement. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army 101st Airborne. He liked to fish, watch the Redsox, Patriots and UConn Women’s Basketball. He is survived by his six children, Laureen O’Connell of Seymour, Sharon O’Rourke and her husband Kevin of Pawcatuck, Daniel O’Connell of Ft. Myers, FL, Thomas O’Connell of North Haven, Patricia Petersen and her husband Stephen of Wallingford and Jeanne Hogan and her husband Kerry of Wallingford, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Jim’s family would like to thank the VA Hospital in West Haven, Franciscan Hospice Staff in Meriden and the Curtis Home, Meriden for all of their excellent service. Jim’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, 12/22/18 at 10 am in Pine Grove Cemetery, 15 Church St. Ansonia. The Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Rd. Shelton are entrusted with the arrangements.
