The Life of Rosa Marie Knight
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 17, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Lafayette for Mrs. Rosa "Rose" Marie Knight, 98, who passed away on December 12, 2018 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Rev. Steve Horn, Pastor of First Baptist Church will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Knight, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Elijah Thigpen and the former Mary Bennet. Ms. Rose proudly served her country as a Sergeant in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) during WWII stationed at Daytona Beach, Florida. She was also a member of the Acadiana Chapter 82nd Airborne Auxiliary Corps. She was a beloved Sunday School Teacher for 62 years and volunteered with many church activities at First Baptist Church of Lafayette.
She is survived by her children, Wayne Clark Knight and wife Becky, Milton Gerald Knight and wife Betsy; 4 grandchildren, Jenny Selevan, Elizabeth Knight, Patrick Knight, and Kenneth Knight; 5 great grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Vernon Knight; parents, Elijah Jacob and Mary Louise Thigpen, and 8 siblings.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Visiting hours will continue on Monday at First Baptist Church of Lafayette from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
The family would like to thank the staff at Courtyard Assisted Living for all of their care and love given during her stay there.
