The Life of Darlene E Culley

Darlene E. Culley 74 of Pottsville passed away peacefully on Friday at the Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest.

Born November 15, 1944 in Pottsville she was the daughter of the late Harold D. Sr. and Cecil Boyer Butts.

Darlene was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School in 1962. After school Darlene went on to work as a secretary first for VanHeusen and later for Sam Evan’s Office Equipment.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Pottsville.

Darlene was the past president of the West End Hose Ladies Auxiliary. She was also the past president of the Pottsville Jayceetes and a dedicated volunteer for the Cerebral Palsy Cub Scouts; an organization founded by her husband Joe.

Darlene married her husband Joseph C. Culley Jr. in June of 1969 and they had just celebrated 49 years of marriage. Joe treated Darlene like his queen and they enjoyed many wonderful years together. Darlene especially enjoyed her flower garden that Joe had planted and travelling together with friends.

In addition to her parents Darlene is predeceased by two brothers; Harold Butts Jr. and Walter Butts.

In addition to her loving husband Darlene is survived by her beloved cat Sparkles and many close friends.

A viewing will be held on Saturday at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven at 10:00 A.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. followed by burial on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Darlene’s name can be made to Hillside SPCA, 51 SPCA Road, Pottsville, PA 17901 or Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 West Arch Street, Pottsville, PA 17901.
