The Life of Clyde S Shive Jr

Obituary - Clyde S. Shive, Jr., Ph.D. 90, of Downingtown, PA, former longtime resident of  Drexel Hill, PA on September 30, 2018 at Simpson Meadows.

Born and raised in Shippensburg, PA, he completed his undergraduate studies at Penn State University and went on to receive his Doctorate in Music. Dr. Shive was in the U.S. Army and served his country around the time of the Korean War.  Dr. Shive was a Professor of Music at Drexel University until his retirement. His love of music was reflected in all facets of his life. A renowned church organist, he was long tenured at both St. Mark's Lutheran Church and The Media Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the National Organist Society as well as several professional and educational societies and associations. Dr. Shive served as conductor, organist, choir master and choral director for several local groups including the Meadowlarks and Merry Notes. Clyde had a great love of history and spent considerable time in research of Colonial Woodwind instruments.

Survivors: include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy (nee Milligan) Shive, son, Paul Shive (Rebecca) and their children , Hannah & Benjamin, son David Shive (Barbara); and his sister, Nancy (Lincoln) Fogelsanger.

Service: Memorial Service will be 10:00am on Friday, 05 October, at the Downingtown United Methodist Church, 751 East Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA, 19335.  Interment will be private.
