The Life of KENNETH EUGENE YAMEN

Kenneth Eugene Yamen, 86, of Des Moines, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at his home.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines.
Kenneth was born April 13, 1932 in Des Moines, IA, son of Abraham and Emiline (Jesser) Yamen. He received his education in Des Moines and graduated from Dowling High School I 1950. In 1951 he entered the United State Air Force serving his country in Germany until his discharge in 1953.

Kenneth returned to Des Moines and worked as a mechanic at John Cline Auto Service and Service Manager for Wright Chevrolet. On March 3, 1962 he was married to Mary Ann Fontanini at the Visitation Church in Des Moines.

Kenneth then became employed by General Motors and they made their home in Lenexa, KS, Memphis, TN, Detroit, MI, Los Angeles. CA, San Diego, CA where he retired. 

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. In his free time Kenneth enjoyed restoring cars and had finished restoring a 1957 Chevy. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Mary Ann, a son, Robert (Kazuyo) Yamen of Osaka, Japan and two grandsons; Ken and Rick Yamen, a sister Shirley Aiken of Des Moines and many nieces and nephews. 

Memorials may be directed to Unity Point Hospice or Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
