The Life of Donald S McDemus

Donald S. McDemus, 78, of Schuylkill Haven, formerly of Cressona, passed away Thursday at ManorCare, Pottsville.

Born in Ashland, Jan. 13, 1940, he was a son of the late Stanley and Aldona Fritz McDemus.

He was the widower of Ruthann Figel McDemus, who preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 2017.

Donald attended Cressona High School and served in the Marines.

He was formerly employed as a truck driver.

Donald was a member of the CB Radio Club; Marine Corps League, Minersville; and Cressona Fire Company No. 1.

He was a former racer at Big Diamond Raceway and loved hunting and fishing.

Donald is survived by three daughters, Maria Dalton and husband, John, Pottsville, Donna Spotts and husband, Joe, New Philadelphia, and LaVerne Schaeffer, Schuylkill Haven; two stepchildren, Joseph Hill Jr. and wife, Jodi, Schuylkill Haven, and Mary Faust and husband, Wayne, Schuylkill Haven; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolores Perzel; two brothers, Joseph McDemus and wife, Micky, and Stanley McDemus and wife, Patty.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Joseph McDemus officiating. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the service in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. The family requests donations in Donald's memory to "Send Me Ministry," 39 Ranch Road, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972. Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc. and Riverside Cremation Services LLC, both of Schuylkill Haven, has been entrusted with arrangements.
