The Life of Loraine Marie Labbe

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette for Loraine “Lorene” Champagne Labbé, 74, who passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at her residence in Lafayette.

Visitation will be observed on Saturday, August 4, 2018, from 9:00 am to 10:45 am, at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette.

Entombment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Loraine’s nephew, Reverend Donavan J. Labbé, Pastor of St. Joseph Church of Parks and St. Louis Catholic Church in Parks, will officiate.

Loraine was born June 14, 1944, in St. Martinville and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette. She worked in retail for over 14 years. Loraine was very crafty and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Her daughter, Pamela, was blessed to have her mother sew her dresses as a child. Most of all, Loraine loved spending time with her devoted husband, family and friends.

Loraine is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Marshall “Buddy” Labbé of Lafayette; her daughter, Pamela Labbé of Baton Rouge; two sons, Dr. Todd Labbé, DDS and his wife, Amanda of Austin, TX and Dr. Thad Labbé, MD and his wife, Amy of Georgetown, TX; her sister, Madeline Gauthier and her husband, Lance of St. Martinville; four brothers, Preston Champagne, Jr. and his wife, Karen of St. Martinville, Roy Champagne and his wife, Gayle of Baldwin, Raymond Champagne and his wife, Donna of Baldwin and Allen Champagne and his wife, Jackie of Cade; three grandchildren, Kevin Labbé of Austin, TX, Ascher and Benjamin Labbé of Georgetown, TX and numerous dear nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Darwin Labbé; her parents, Joseph Preston Champagne, Sr. and Palmire Marie Hebert Champagne and her sister, Mazel Fremin.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Todd Labbé, DDS, Dr. Thad Labbé, MD, Lance Gauthier, Jr., Brian Labbé, Craig Labbé and Stuart Gauthier.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Joseph Orgeron, Dr. Adam Foreman, Hospice of Acadiana nurses and staff for the compassionate care given to Loraine and her family.
