The Life of Larry G. Martis Sr.

Larry G. Martis, Sr., 73, of Lenhartsville, died peacefully, surrounded by his family Saturday, June 30, 2018, in Reading Hospital -  Tower Health, West Reading. Born in Douglassville, he was a son of the late William F. and Anna B. (Bieber) Martis.  Larry worked over 26 years as a machine operator at the former Kutztown Shoe Company, Kutztown; then worked over seven years in the same capacity at Radius Corporation, Kutztown, until his retirement.  A former member of Kutztown Rod & Gun Club, Kutztown, Larry enjoyed trout fishing, drawing, painting ceramics, watching game shows and old-time sitcoms. Larry is certainly hosting the party of all parties in heaven with many family and friends that have gone before us.

He is survived by his daughters: Machell D. (Martis), wife of Glenn D. Helbert, Mohrsville; Kelly J. (Martis), wife of James A. Plante, Quakertown; and Polly J. (Carl), wife of William M. Pflueger, Blandon; son, Larry G. Martis, Jr., Lenhartsville.  Other survivors include a sister Regena M. (Martis), wife of James M. Miller, Cumru Township; and a brother, Kenneth W. Martis, Kutztown. There are seven grandchildren: Samantha, Leif, Ashley, Austin, Emilee, Brandon and Brent; seven great grandchildren: Skyla, Quintin, Haylee, Brianna, Aubrie, Isla, and Emme.  Larry was predeceased by a sister Delores M. (Martis) Fronheiser; two half sisters: Kathryn (Martis) George and Arlene Martis.

A funeral service to celebrate Larry's life will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown with Reverend John P. Connors, officiating.  Interment will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood.  Relatives and friends may call Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. The family requests those attending wear casual attire.

The family requests contributions be made in Larry's memory to Friend, Inc., to benefit Food Pantry, 658-D Noble Street, Kutztown, PA 19530.
