Jerry Lynn "Jay" Werner

1952 - 2018
 

Jerry (Jay) Lynn Werner, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away June 6th, 2018 in Brownsville, Texas of heart failure.

Jay was born January 1st, 1952 in Sutherland, Nebraska, and was 66 when he passed.

Jay had the good fortune to enjoy two months at their new winter home before he passed as home with his wife and chihuahua LucyLu. 

Jay retired after 43 years from Gills Studios in Lenexa, Kansas.

Jay enjoyed motorcycling, camping, sports and spending time at his sister’s farm in Osceloa, Missouri.

Proceeded in death by his parents, Bob and Dorothy Werner, his older brother Gary and his son Philip of 9 months.

Survived by his wife Melcene, of Olathe, Kansas; stepsons Bryan Burns (wife Tobi) Leo Burns and grandson Elton Burns; sons; Jason and Jeremy Werner and their families; sister Linda Nelson (Kevin Brosch).

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions, in Jay’s honor, be given to the Son’s of the American Legion Post 370 in Overland Park, Kansas.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 14 from 6:00-8:00pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe, KS with funeral services following on Friday, June 15 at 10:00am in the chapel of the funeral home.

Interment at Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
