The Life of Ruth E Faust

Ruth E. Marbarger Faust passed away Sunday at Weston Senior Living Pinebrook, with her daughter-in-law, Lucille, by her side. She would have celebrated her 95th birthday shortly.

Born in Leesport in 1923, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Stella Webber Marbarger and was raised in Auburn. In 1946 she married, Floyd Faust, who passed away in 1983.

She and her husband worked side by side on the farm. She had green thumb in her flower gardens as well as her vegetable garden. She cooked many family meals and was a fabulous baker.

She had worked for the Blue Mountain School District as a cafeteria aide, and several textile factories as a presser. She also clerked at the Auburn Post Office with her father, the postmaster at the time. She worked the polls for West Brunswick Township for many years. She sang for many years with the Zion's Red Church Choir and was an active member of the former Ladies of Zion, as well as the Schuylkill Haven Senior Citizens Group. She also sang with the Golden Girls until her health failed her. She was a past member of the Auburn VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and she was active with her new church, St. John's UCC, Orwigsburg. She made many friends at her new church, and they helped her get to church Sunday mornings as well as church activities.

She was so fortunate to have many friends to travel with before and after her husband's passing. She always called herself "the fifth wheel." She traveled by bus, plane and cruise ship until her health failed her.

Also preceding her in death were her son, Lamar, granddaughter, Catherine Faust, and sister, Pearl Strouse.

She is survived by her brother, Harold Marbarger, Auburn; her sons, Dale (Susan), Halifax, Jay (Faye), Reading, Ronald (Lucille), Lake Wynonah. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Christine, Matthew, Jason, David, all of Halifax, Dustin, who resides at the Faust family farmette, which made Granny very happy, Derek, Bismarck, N.D., Gizelle and Holly, Reading; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
