The Life of Bobby Wayne Bowden

Bobby “Bob” Wayne Bowden, 78, of Olathe, passed away on June 5, 2018. He was born on March 29, 1940 to James and Mary (Clark) Bowden in Lawton, OK. 


Bob grew up in Lawton and graduated Lawton High School in 1958. He attended Cameron College in Lawton. Bob and Rosemary were married in Beal Heights Presbyterian Church on Aug 7th, 1960. He managed grocery stores in Kansas and Missouri. Following that, he was an area manager for Electrolux. Bob worked for and retired after 19 years from the Olathe School District. He drove school buses concurrently with other jobs and in his retirement, Bob worked for First Student for 30 years. 


One of Bob’s passions in recent years was to volunteer at the Johnson County Department of Corrections, ministering to the prisoners. Bob was also very active in the prayer ministry at OBC and very faithful to share the Gospel with everyone he met. He loved to travel and being with family. 


Bob is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary; daughter, Keely Hass; son, Scott (Likun) Bowden; granddaughters, Meili and Jiaoli Bowden; grandson, Kevin Hass; sister, Beverly (James) Cunningham; nephew and niece, Blake and Kim Cunningham; brother Terry (Jaquetta) Bowden; and nephew Mark Bowden.


He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Donnie Bowden; and his precious nephew, Darren Cunningham.


A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Olathe Bible Church, 13700 151st St, Olathe, KS 66062. He will be interred at Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
