The Life of LOUIS J FECILE

Louis J. Fecile, 83, formerly of Sinking Spring, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, Harrisburg from complications of Parkinson’s Disease and Nephrotic Syndrome. He was preceded by his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, Patricia A. (Price) Fecile, who passed away on August 5, 2018.

Born on September 7, 1939, in New York, New York, Lou was a son of the late Louis J., Sr., and Anna M. (Nasta) Fecile. A graduate of St. Cecilia High School in Englewood, NJ, he was proud to be the first member of his family to attend college, receiving his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Manhattan College, in The Bronx, NY in 1964. Over the course of a distinguished business career, Lou worked his way up through the accounting and finance departments of several large companies to retire from VF Corporation as an Executive Vice President in 2001.

Lou was a serious and hard working businessman, who valued his roles as husband, father, and grandfather above all else. He was also the ‘fun dad’ who made delicious Saturday morning breakfasts, and captained the after dinner kitchen clean-up crew, teaching his children responsibility, team work, and the importance of giving their mother a break after a long day, all with his engaging smile and silly songs & jokes. He shared his time and skills with community organizations, such as Easter Seals, as well as numerous church-related activities and committees over many years. He imparted his work ethic and value for education to his 4 children, providing the financial support for each to earn a bachelor’s degree, as well as additional support during graduate school and beyond. In 1997, he made Pat’s lifelong dream of a summer home at the beach a reality. Twenty-two years of summers, holidays, and family gatherings in Sea Isle City, NJ brought tremendous joy to family and friends, creating precious and enduring memories for all.

Lou was an avid reader and lover of music; his musical tastes gravitated to the great crooners like Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, though in later years he enjoyed many evenings listening to jazz, classical, and other music genres with his daughter and son-in-law, with whom he lived in Hummelstown since early 2021. For many years he enjoyed playing tennis with Pat and golfing with business associates and friends. Favorite memories included playing golf at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia and Pine Valley in New Jersey. Following retirement, he and Pat cruised and traveled the world, often with friends, savoring cuisine, culture, and history in countries including Italy, Greece, France, China, and others.

He is survived by four children: John, husband of Kate Fecile, Coatesville; Laura, widow of Brian McLaughlin, Pennington, NJ; Mary Lynn Fecile, wife of Paul Haidet, Hummelstown; and Tricia Fecile-Moreland, wife of Damon Moreland, Wyncote. Also surviving is his sister, Lorraine Ragazzo; and ten grandchildren.

Lou was predeceased by two siblings, Marianne DeCesare and James Fecile, and four grandchildren.
