The Life of HAMILTON MURRELL STOLER JR.

Hamilton Murrell “Curly” Stoler, Jr. passed away at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines on May 20, 2018. He was born in Wayland, Iowa, on July 30, 1927, to Mabel and Hamilton Stoler, Sr.

Curly proudly served in the United States Navy from 1944 – 1946. He worked for (Wood Brothers) Ford Tractor for 25 ½ years as a supervisor, and after retirement, he worked part-time for Electronic Engineering.

Curly was a faithful member of Woodland Hills Church of Christ and a lifetime member of Boline-Manfredi VFW Post 9662, and the Masons. He was also a member of Fairs & Squares Dance Club where he served as President from 1995-1996 and 2005-2006. For many years, he was a member of the Iowa Winnie Hawks Camp Club where he served as President in 1997.

Curly is survived by his daughter-in-law, Lea Stoler; grandchildren, Heather (Tyler) Burns and Cody Stoler; great-grandson, Braxton Burns; cousin, Richard (Norma) Horstman; loving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert (Pat) Sparks, David Sparks, Dixie (Stan) Hillebo, Jackie Smith, and Colleen Walker; several nieces and nephews, as well as other loving family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Stoler; sons, Duke Stoler and Hamilton M. Stoler III; and three sisters, Eva Stoler, Eloise Spates, and Virginia Stoler.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 24th at the funeral home with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
