The Life of Iola D. Sandom

Iola D. (Thomas) Sandom, 87, of Longswamp Township, died Saturday, May 12, 2018, in her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was the widow of Robert D. Sandom, who died October 20, 2006.  The couple shared 57 years of marriage prior to Robert's death. Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Booten Mahone Thomas and Doris G. Beaupre.  Iola, along with her late husband, owned and operated Mattress Fair, Whitehall, for over 20 years.  She first worked as a statistician for American Meter Company, in Philadelphia's Somerton neighborhood.  Iola had a passion for musical theatre, devoting her time and talents to Neshaminy Valley Music Theater, Langhorne, where she performed as both an actress and singer for many years.

Iola is survived by daughters: June S. (Sandom), wife of Thomas H. Kellogg, Breinigsville; Robin S. (Sandom), wife of Steven F. Gale, Upper Black Eddy, Bucks County; Son: Thomas E., husband of Susan D. (Schwartz) Sandom, Fleetwood. Other survivors include grandchildren: Emberly, Laura, Kerry, Nicole, Michelle, Jesse, and Jill. There are also great grandchildren: Emmitt, Eleanor, Aubrey, Levi, Piper, Colt, Tommy and Elena.  

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 21, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. from Ludwick Funeral Home, 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with Reverend Carey L. Miller, Pastor of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, Trexlertown, officiating.  Entombment in Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum, Allentown.  Friends may call Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. 

Iola loved flowers, so flowers are welcome, however her other love was musical theatre, please consider a contribution in her memory to Neshaminy Valley Music Theater, P.O. Box 131, Langhorne, PA 19047-0131.
