The Life of Nicholas Koniuszewsky

Nicholas, “Paul” Koniuszewsky, age 61, of Derby died after an extended illness on March 29th at the Hewitt Rehab Center of Shelton. Born in Derby on Jan 2, 1957, he was the son of the late Marina Muromzew and Bronislav Koniuszewsky. He attended Ansonia Schools, then entered the Army in 1978. During his youth he served as altar boy every Sunday for Divine Liturgy at the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Stratford. He was an avid hiker, belonging to the Valley Hiking Club, hiking throughout the New England States and also the Appalachian Trail. He was a fan of old movies and westerns, having a large collection of movies. He worked as a machinist most of his life and resided in Derby. He is survived by his sons, Nicholas Koniuszewsky of Waterbury and companion Kim, Paul Michael Koniuszewsky of Oxford, and companion Lindsey. grandchildren Brianna, Nicholas, Anthony and Maiya. He is also survived by a sister, Irene Koniuszewsky Judd and her husband Edward of Maine and several nieces and nephews. On Monday, friends are invited to his funeral service at 9:30 a.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. His burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
