The Life of DONALD DEAN CIRKSENA
Donald Dean Cirksena, 83, was born June 17, 1934 in Perry, Iowa, the son of Enos and Ruth (Jennison) Cirksena. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Friday, March 30, 2018 at Fountain West Nursing Home IN West Des Moines.
Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Firestone after 32 years of faithful service and also owned his own landscaping business. Donald had a passion for motorcycles and was a car fanatic. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, whether it be camping, fishing or boating. Above all else, he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Don is survived by his children; David (Sue) Cirksena, Diane (Angel) Ramirez, Daniel (Cindy) Cirksena, DeeDee Cirksena, Douglas (Linda) Cirksena and Dean (Renee) Cirksena; grandchildren, Jon Cirksena, Jacob Cirksena, Jordan Cirksena, Brant Polito, Kellie Lundberg, Nick Cirksena, Jeff Cirksena, Benjamin Cirksena, Eric Cirksena, Rose Cirksena, Hillary Cirksena, Cooper Cirksena and Pyper Cirksena; eleven great grandchildren; sister, Marge Houston; granddogs, Luke and Mikia; grandkitty, Scooby; other loving relatives and many special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant siblings, Duane and Elenore; his brother-in-law, Wendell Houston; his nephew, Gene Houston and his niece, Karen Thill.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 5-8 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
