The Life of AMY RENEE VORE

Amy Renee Vore, age 41 of Des Moines, went home to her Father in Heaven on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She was born to Candis (Lee) Kern and Timothy Gavin on October 25, 1976, in Monmouth, Illinois.

Amy attended Central High School in Davenport, IA, before attending the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA, where she met the love of her life, husband Jason. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and served on several committees while her children attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School.

Family and friends were Amy’s passion and delight. She grew up the oldest of 5 siblings in Monmouth, IL, later moving to Davenport, IA. She adored her mother and spoke to her daily over the phone. Amy enjoyed attending her kids’ school and athletic events, going on dates with her husband, meeting up with her “Church Ladies” when her health allowed, sitting in her porch swing during the summer months drinking her morning coffee, and spending time with family and friends.

Amy will be best remembered for her caring and thoughtful nature, the wisdom and deep love she shared with her children, and the 23 years of love and undying devotion she provided to her husband. She was a committed friend and touched countless people with her kindness and gentle nature.

While Amy’s long battle with Lymphangiomatosis is over, her real journey has only begun. She has been welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and will forever rest peacefully.

Amy is survived by her husband, Jason; children, Nathan (21), Bethany (19), Megan (16), and Jacob (14); mother, Candis; step father, Jeffrey Kern; brother, Robert; sister, Elizabeth; brother, Benjamin (Ann), and sister, Kristen. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Timothy; grandmother, Jane Gavin; grandfather, Robert Gavin; and grandfather, Eugene Passig.

Her family would like to extend a special thank you to her care team at Mayo Clinic, especially Dr. Vivek Iyer, who we came to know and love through this long process.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the family in support of the children’s ongoing education or to the St. Joseph’s Catholic School Endowment Fund.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30am, Wednesday, March 28, 2018, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Blvd., Des Moines, IA 50317. The family will greet friends at the church on Tuesday from 4 to 7:00pm, with a prayer vigil at 7:00pm. Burial will be at Highland Memory Garden in Des Moines.
