The Life of COLIN GENE LUKE
Colin Gene Luke passed into God’s care on March 18th, 2018 due to complications of Parkinson’s disease. Colin was born June 10th, 1934 in Carroll, Iowa to Vernon and Beulah (Andersen) Luke. Colin served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 stationed in Korea. He married Barbara Jeanne Donahue on July 1, 1966. A son, David Anthony was born on November 18, 1967 and a second son, John Thomas was born on August 31, 1974. He worked for St. Paul Insurance and EMC Insurance as a Senior Underwriter - a certified CPCU. Colin was also a member of Aurora Ave. Bible Church where he was a member for many years, fulfilling many roles. He enjoyed gardening in his spare time, playing golf, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Colin is preceded in death by his parents and brother Maurice. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Barb, son David (Amy) Luke, son John (Rob Rouze) Luke, brother Alden (Lois) Luke and 4 grandchildren Robert, Elizabeth, Alisha and Ben Luke.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 22, at Aurora Ave Bible Church, 5 NW Aurora Ave, Des Moines, followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
