The Life of TOMMY ALBERT WADSTROM
Tom Wadstrom passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the age of 71. Memorial funeral services for Tom will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Saturday, March 10, 2018 also at the funeral home. Interment of ashes will be on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
Tommy Albert Wadstrom was born September 11, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1964. Following high school, he was drafted into the US Army where he served two years in Germany. On March 16, 1968 he married the love of his life Tanya.
Tom worked for Iowa Power and Light, Cedar Falls Utilities, Suburban Propane and was a car salesman. He also worked for the Carlisle School District as a custodian. Following retirement, he worked part time for UPS and two seasons as an usher for the Iowa Cubs doing what he loved most…being around the game of baseball.
Tom is survived by his wife, Tanya Wadstrom of Carlisle; children, Jill(Rich)Swisher of Denver, Colorado, Scott(Dana)Wadstrom of Tampa, Florida and Stephen(Amy)Wadstrom of Pleasant Hill; six grand children, Baylie Swisher, Courtney Wadstrom, Colin Wadstrom, Taryn Wadstrom, Bennett Wadstrom and Josie Wadstrom; two great grandchildren, Bella Ryan and Mya Ryan.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Iva Wadstrom.
He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Iowa (East Gate chapter), Teamsters Local 90 and was also a mason.
Memorials can be made to the family.
