Edgar Alonzo Tennis, Grand Master of Masons, 1902-1903, Lamberton Lodge No. 371, Thompsontown, Pa. Edgar was owner and operator of Tennis Construction co., of Philadelphia, that built many railroads in and around the Philadelphia area.

From The Philadelphia Inquirer, 23 Jun 1894, page 4. an article about the celebration of the first trip of a newly completed rail line from Philly to Cape May, New Jersey:

E.A. Tennis, of Thompsontown, who is at the Lafayette, is the contractor who has just completed the extension of the South Jersey Railroad to Cape May. The building of the road was accomplished with surprising rapidity, Mr. Tennis having as many as 900 laborers working at one time. He is one of the most successful contractors for railroad building in this State and has many additional contracts on hand.

With him at the hotel are Israel and Marshall F. Tennis of Thompsontown, and J.C. Tennis of Cape May, all of whom will journey on the trial trip over the road, which is to be made this morning... LH Archivell/div>/div>
