The Life of Elizabeth Harman
Libby Harman, Luba bat Avraham v'Sarah beloved Mishkan Shalom member, spouse of Sharon Coulson Downes, mother of Grace, sister of Janet, sister-in-law of Cesar, aunt of Danilo and Emilio, and daughter of Liz, died Thursday, February 22, at home in hospice care. Libby was surrounded in her last hours by close friends, her family, and Rabbis Shawn and Yael. For the last several months she had been quietly fighting metastatic breast cancer, with which she had lived for several years but which became very aggressive in the last few weeks. Until her illness she coordinated the Village Shabbats and was an avid member of the Mah Jong group. She donated beautiful handcrafted cloth baskets to Mishkan auctions, and was an enthusiastic quilter. She and Sharon celebrated their wedding this past Labor Day weekend and had an Aliyah at Mishkan. There will be a memorial service at Mishkan Shalom at 6:30 pm, Tuesday February 27th and a shiva minyan at 7:00 pm Thursday, March 1st at the home of Susan Schewel and Lizzy Schmidt at 419 Gate Lane, Philadelphia 19119.
