The Life of Margaret T Clews


Margaret T. "Peg" Clews, 86, of Pottsville, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Barbara, in Shillington. 

She was born April 18, 1931, in Pottsville, a daughter of the late Malachi and Mary Eagan Campion. 

She was a 1949 graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School. She was employed by Dr. William Walters as a medical receptionist for 26 years prior to retiring. Peg was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Clews, Jan. 16, 2016; twin grandchildren, James and Patrick Brehony; a brother, Thomas Campion; a sister, Elizabeth Kowalsky. 

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Brehony and her husband, Bill, Shillington, and Karen Sabol and her husband, Greg, Frackville; two grandsons, William Brehony and his wife, Tina, and Michael Brehony; three great-grandchildren, Karleigh, Tyler and Savanah; sister-in-law, Janet Freeston and husband, John William, West Lawn; nieces and nephews; a lifelong friend, Mary Kelly, Hershey. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to St. Patrick Memorial Fund, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901, or Hillside SPCA, PO Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901.
