The Life of John Statkevich

John Statkevich, age 87 of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Cecile Marie Lavoie Statkevich, died peacefully on January 30, 2018, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family- just nine months following the loss of his beloved wife of 55 years. Born in Ansonia on October 26, 1930, he was the son of the late Pavel and Anna Statkevich. Mr. Statkevich was a lifelong member of Three Saints Orthodox Church, a 1948 Graduate of Pine High School and a proud U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Statkevich worked as a Manufacturing Engineer for the Sikorsky Aircraft Co., for over 30 years, until the time of his retirement in 1993. He is survived by his three devoted sons, Paul (Anita) Statkevich of NJ, Joseph (Lisa) Statkevich of Southington, and Peter (Kimberly) Statkevich of Shelton; cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Amanda Statkevich of NJ, Alexander and Stephen Statkevich of Southington, and Peter, Emily and Brooke Statkevich of Shelton; sisters, Helen Kosowsky of Shelton and Olga Statkevich of Ansonia; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Mary Pawchyk. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM in Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Ave., Ansonia. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
