The Life of ROBERT DEAN BUCKLIN
Bob Bucklin, 82, passed away January 22, 2018, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He was born March 11, 1935, in Bayard, Iowa, the son of Mason and Hazel Bucklin.
Bob graduated from Bayard High School and went on to Barber School prior to serving in the United States Navy. He owned and operated his own Barber Shop for many years and retired from Polk County.
Bob had a love for the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed bowling.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn; children, Debra (Tom) Robinson and Douglas Bucklin; grandchildren, Brian Norton, Amy Miller, Emily (Nick) Hesse, and Audrey Dell; great-grandchildren, Kaeden, Lincoln, and Bailey Jo; brother, Jerry (Wilma) Bucklin; sister, Pearl Betts; as well as a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jodi Bucklin Dell; brother, Jim Bucklin; and sister, Pauline Lee.
A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. A private graveside service will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
