The Life of Ann Oglesby Kelly


 Ann O. Kelly, age 89, passed away on Jan. 25th at Washington House in Alexandria, surrounded by her family. She was born in Richmond, VA on Aug. 28, 1928 and grew up in Wytheville, VA. She attended Stuart Hall prep school in Staunton, VA and attended Converse College in Spartanburg, SC where she received a BA in sociology. She raised her children Nicky, Harrison, Lillian & Frances with her husband Nicholas Perkins Oglesby in Alexandria Virginia and was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She played piano and organ, performed in the church choir & hand bell choir. She married James Patrick Kelly after the death of her first husband where they made their home in Salisbury. MD. She attended St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and was a member of the Altars Guild and Ushers Guild. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Green Hill Yacht & Country Club, and volunteered in the Salisbury school district, helping children learn to read.

She is survived by her children Lillian Siegel, Frances Oglesby & Frank Kelly. She has 8 grandchildren; Ashleigh Marsh, Lee Pettigrew, Kate Kelly, Sloane, Sophie & Zach Siegel, Blair Settle, & Zoe Kind. She has 6 great grandchildren; Layann, Noelle, Safiyah, Stella, Olivia and Siena. She was an outgoing, vivacious woman who loved traveling, music, dancing, and spending time with her family.

Funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA 22302. Interment will be held privately at Ivy Hill Cemetery at a later date.
