Obituary

Harold F. Ruppelius Jr., 79, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away from complications of pneumonia on January 14, 2018 at the Olathe Health Hospice House, in the company of his family. A Celebration of Life gathering will be on Thursday, January 18th from 6-8 pm at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula Street, Olathe, KS with the Eulogy at 7 pm. Private family inurnment in the Olathe Memorial Cemetery.

Harold had worked for 25 years as a Senior Accountant at International Paper. In later years, he would work in hotel security, as he enjoyed the interaction with people. Harold grew up in Olathe and had a great love of music. He played the piano since the age of six and played everything from Bach to Rock! He passed this love of music on to his children. He also obtained a Ham Radio Operator License at the age of 17 and continued this hobby into his later years under the call sign WORB.

He is survived by his wife Carol of 52 years, a son, Paul Ruppelius, a daughter, Lori (Rob) Hill and three grandchildren, Sean, Lauren and Emily Hill. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Ron (Bunny) Taylor, a sister-in-law, Mary Beth (Mike) Daly, niece Carrie Daly and nephew Sean Daly. Three cousins, Floy Blair, Deen Ruppelius and Mary Helen Graul, also survive him. Harold also leaves behind his faithful companion Sport. A special thank you to the staff at Olathe Health Hospice House for their loving care and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Olathe Health Hospice House, 15310 South Marion Street, Olathe, Kansas 66061.
