The Life of AGNES LUCILE GRIFFITHS

Lucile was born on February 25, 1925, in Hedrick, Iowa, to Jesse and Mabel Forrest. Lucile grew up on the family farm with her parents and her brother, Lee. She graduated Parsons High School as valedictorian where she earned a basketball scholarship to attend the American Institute of Business in Des Moines. She graduated early to accept a job with the American Heart & Lung Association in Des Moines. During that time she met her future husband, Griff, who owned the local diner. Griff and Lucile were married 62 years and had three daughters.

Lucile is survived by her children: Connie Turner (Lucky) of Florida, Nancy McCriskin (Jim), and Rhonda Giacomarra (Dave); grandchildren, Brendan (Samantha), Dawn, Katie (Keith), and Scott (Stephanie); great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ava and Audrey, as well as sisters-in-law, Lois and Harriett.

Lucile’s focus was always her family and friends. She enjoyed baking and candy making, especially at holiday time, playing cards, and created various works of art from shells she collected on the beach when visiting her family. One of her favorite vacations was a trip to Japan to welcome their new granddaughter and see their grandson.

Lucile was preceded in death by her husband, Griff (July 2008), her parents and brother, Lee and many life long friends.

The family sincerely appreciates the care provided by the staff at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community in Chenoa, IL. Memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of Lucile to this very worthy care facility.

Lucile was a loving wife, mother, nana, and great nana. She will be missed by all who knew, loved and cared for her.

A private service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Hamilton’s with interment at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
