The Life of Geraldine Frances Smith Lawrence

Geraldine Frances Smith Lawrence, age 68, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on December 27, 2017, at Griffin Hospital. She was the beloved and devoted wife of Ronald L. Lawrence. Geraldine was born in West Enfield, Maine on October 16, 1949, loving daughter of Grace Cook Smith of Howland, Maine and the late Royce Smith. A resident of Ansonia since 1978, she was employed at Lewis Jewelers in Ansonia for eight years and later as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Bishop Wicke Health Care in Shelton for twenty-one years until her retirement. Geraldine enjoyed flower gardening and bird watching and was an avid fan of UConn Women’s Basketball and the NY Yankees. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by a brother, Royce Smith (Joan) of Howland, ME, grandsons, Timothy Davis of Ansonia, Travis Davis of Chester, ME and Brent A. Davis Jr. and Brandon Davis of Lincoln, ME and several in-laws and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons, Timothy Davis Jr. and Brent A. Davis and a sister, Darlene Chesley. The family sends a heart-felt thank you to the nurses and staff at Yale-Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, Griffin Hospital Hospice and Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center in Derby, especially Dr. Nguyen Khanh and Dominique for their wonderful care. Visiting hours will be held on Monday January 1, 2018, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLIRICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Tuesday, her funeral will begin at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Inurnment will be private in the columbarium in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia.
