The Life of Elizabeth M Spehrley


Elizabeth M. Spehrley, 85, of New Ringgold, passed away Saturday while at Seton Manor Nursing Home, Orwigsburg.

Born Jan. 5, 1932, she was a daughter of the late George and Hazel Frantz.

Elizabeth was a graduate of Saint Clair High School and then went on to attend Ford Business School.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Lewistown Valley.

Elizabeth worked as a secretary throughout her life, being employed with East Penn Bussing Co., Fort Indiantown Gap and the Schuylkill County Welfare Office.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. She was a die-hard Phillies fan and enjoyed the game of baseball.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William C. Spehrley; a brother, William Frantz; a close nephew, George William Frantz; a great-nephew, George Michael Dougherty.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 54 years, Clyde, and their daughter, Joanne Spehrley, New Ringgold; a grandson, Jared Ward, New Ringgold; a sister, Nancy Roberts, wife of Charles, Orwigsburg; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Frantz, Coaldale.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven, with Pastor Edward Bean officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation in Elizabeth's name be made to The Make-A-Wish Foundation, 101 N Centre St., No. 308, Pottsville, PA 17901. Grabowski Funeral Home is entrusted with the services.
