The Life of Richard Allen Walters

LAFAYETTE ~ Private services were held for Richard "Dickie" Walters, age 69, who passed away Friday, December 15, 2017 at The Carpenter House in Lafayette.

Interment was in Lafayette Memorial Park in Lafayette. The Rev. Gary Schexnayder officiated at the services.

Mr. Walters was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette where he was a parishioner of St. Genevieve Catholic Church. He was recently employed with Phillips Wholesale as a driver, and previously with Hub City Ford and Lafayette Municipal Golf Course in the Maintenance Department.

Survivors include one brother, Jimmy Walters and his wife, Cynthia, of Carencro; one sister, Sue Dauphin of Lafayette; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Joseph Walters, Sr. and the former Felecie Nella Girouard; seven brothers, Huey Walters, Clay Walters, A.J. Walters, Leonard Walters, Roland Walters, Billy Walters and Danny Walters; three sisters, Annette Blanchet, Clarice Lacombe and Infant Hortense; and a nephew, Kevin Walters.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Carpenter House for all that they have done. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in the name of Richard Walters to the St. Josephs Hospice Foundation.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue, (337) 896-6366, is in charge of arrangements.
