The Life of JAMES HENRY AHRENS
Jim Ahrens passed away in Des Moines on November 21, 2017. He was born June 30, 1942, in Grinnell, Iowa, to Edward and Lucille Ahrens.
Jim graduated from Grinnell High School and worked in the optical business until following his lifelong dream of owning a restaurant with his father. He could talk your ear off and loved to tell you about old cars and westerns. Jim was a simple, but good man.
Jim is survived by his sister, Cindy Patterson; nephew, Greg (Stephanie) Patterson; great-nieces and nephew, Jordyn, Caitlynn, and Brandon; and his companion, Marlene Cratty. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 1, 2017, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., with a 10:30 a.m. graveside service to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
