The Life of Harold G. Weisner

Harold G. Weisner, 84, of Kutztown, died on Sunday, November 19, 2017, in Berks Heim - Berks County Home, Bern Township.  He was the loving husband of Myrtle D. (Miller) Weisner.  They were married December 25, 1951.  Born in Greenwich Township, Harold was a son of the late Alvin D. and Helen I. (Leibensperger) Weisner.  Harold was a member of the Mount Zion  Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where he and his wife formerly served as greeters. Mr. Weisner proudly and honorably served our country as a veteran of the United States Navy, having service during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Antares.  Harold worked as a crane operator for McConway & Torley, Kutztown Foundry Division over 20 years until his retirement.  He was a member of Kempton Gun Club, was the family patriarch, possessed a strong faith, was a devoted family man, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. Harold had a great sense of humor and was a true Pennsylvania Dutch Man "Machts Gut!"

In addition to his wife of 65 years, Myrtle, Harold is survived by two daughters: Sharon C. (Weisner) wife of Martin L. Billger, Mertztown; and Shirlene M. (Weisner) wife of Gary J. Gibson, Kutztown; sister, Joyce F. (Weisner) wife of William Isamoyer, Mertztown; and a brother, Raymond C., husband of, Judy (Losch) Weisner, Kutztown.  There are also four grandchildren, Sherrilyn M. Billger, wife of Andrew Smith; Daniel M., husband of, Karen (Swavely) Billger; Nathaniel S., husband of, Anne (Kent) Gibson; and Shawn M. Gibson, fiancé of, Christy N. Wails.  There is also a great grandson, Justin D. Billger.

A memorial service to celebrate Harold's life will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 1343 Long Lane Road, Kutztown, with Vicar Jeremiah T. Heydt, officiating. Inurnment, with Military Honors provided by Ray A. Master Post 217 American Legion Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy, will follow in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Kutztown.  Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the church.

The family requests contributions be made in Harold's memory to Mount Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1343 Long Lane Road, Kutztown, PA 19530.
